Hi there, I'm Emma
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the grand scheme. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Routine tasks seemed more challenging than they'd ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, doubts, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built HumbleStoneGarden
Most online resources leaned toward corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site represents:
- Practical insights from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rotterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Emma
